Get out and explore this summer.

Since it feels like summer is already upon us we thought we would compile a list of summer holiday destinations that are sure to keep the family happy.

    1. Great Keppel Island

An absolute paradise awaits those that make the journey to Great Keppel.  With access to amazing reef structures, the kids will enjoy discovering an underwater playground as they snorkel in the clear blue waters.

    2. Mount Tamborine

No trip to Mount Tambourine would be complete without a visit to Granny Macs Fudge shop.  You can choose to try as many of their flavours as possible. There is a range of ginger treats as well as a range of ice cream to cool you down.

    3. Moreton Island

Whether you are snorkeling around the Tangalooma wrecks or sand tobogganing there is plenty to see and do.  There are four wheel drive tours and plenty of hot fishing spots to keep Dad happy and also plenty of resorts to choose from with a pool to keep Mum calm and relaxed.

    4. Gold Coast

We saved the best to last. You have an enormous choice of activities to choose from on the Gold Coast, from the big four theme parks to Infinity, an amazing laser light show experience. You can venture to the hinterland for a peaceful bushwalk or find a spot on one of the many beaches and soak up the Queensland sunshine.

Wherever you travel these summer holidays be sure to travel safe and be sun safe at all times under the Queensland sun. But most of all have fun.

We would love to hear your favourite summer holiday destination. Please leave a comment below. For all your industrial engraving needs, contact John at Rapid Engraving.

Rugby League Four Nations

Can Australia take the title off New Zealand?

This Friday, the 28th of October, Australia will open their Four Nations campaign against current Four Nations champions New Zealand.  England and Wales open their campaigns the day after as they try to notch up their first Four Nations title.

The Four Nations Rugby League Tournament, having run twice before, emerged from the Tri-Nations Rugby League Tournament.  The first Four Nations was comprised of Australia, England, New Zealand and France.  Australia took out the maiden Four Nations Title in an emphatic win over England in the final.

France was not to return for the following Four Nations, and was replaced by Pacific Cup winners Papua New Guinea.  New Zealand took out that tournament after beating Australia at Suncorp Stadium in the final.

After Australia played New Zealand a few weeks ago it’s hard not to back the Kangaroos taking out the Tournament, especially given that Darren Lockyer, the most capped test player of any nation, hangs up his boots after this tournament.

Grand Finals Weekend

Posted: Monday, September 26, 2011 at 9:38:51 AM EST by

The NRL and AFL seasons are drawing to a close; and what a weekend to finish it all.

This weekend is the weekend all sports fans look forward to.

This Saturday on the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Collingwood will try to make it two premierships in as many years against Collingwood. Collingwood will also be trying to send their coach Mick Malthouse out on a winning note as this is his last season as an AFL coach.

The betting margins couldn’t be any closer but Collingwood are the slight favourites to topple the Cats.

Channel 10 will be covering the AFL Grand Final Day from 10am Brisbane and Sydney time.

On Sunday the New Zealand Warriors, after overcoming premiership favourites Melbourne face, the tactical Sea Eagles at the Sydney Football Stadium, after Manly ended Darren Lockyer’s fairy tale exit to the NRL.

Manly are clear favourites to stop the Warriors from winning their first NRL Premiership.

Channel 9 will be covering the NRL Grand Final from 3:30pm Sydney and Brisbane time, but be sure to tune in early and watch the Cowboys and Warriors in the Toyota Cup Grand Final.

Whatever code you follow it will certainly be a fantastic first weekend of October when both Grand Finals will be played. Certainly a weekend not to be missed by any sports fan.

Before celebrating your teams victory this weekend be sure to give John and the boys from Rapid Engraving a call today and see how they can make your industrial engraving experience as memerable as this weekend.

2011 Rugby World Cup

Posted: Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 4:54:58 PM EST by

worldcup

On the 9th of September the Rugby World Cup will kick off.

This will be the seventh time rugby nations have come together to be crowned world champions. The winner of the first Rugby World Cup in 1987 was New Zealand. They defeated France in the final with a score of 29-9.  Australia finished fourth after losing to Wales 22-21 in the third place playoff. The games were played throughout Australia and New Zealand as they were two countries that put forth the concept of a World Cup.

The 1991 World Cup was played throughout Europe with Australia defeating England 12-6 in the final, and the previous World Cup winner New Zealand finishing third after beating Scotland 13-6 in the third place playoff.

1995 was the first World Cup that was played in just one country, South Africa, who won the cup defeating New Zealand 15-12. Australia, unfortunately, didn’t make it past the quarter finals.

The fourth Rugby World Cup in 1999, was the first cup in which the big eight nations didn’t automatically qualify. Only the first, second and third placed nations from the previous World Cup, along with the host nation, automatically qualified. Australia notched up their second World Cup win after beating France 35-12 in Cardiff.  South Africa, last cup’s winner, finished third after beating New Zealand 22-18 also in Cardiff.

The World Cup of 2003 was one that Australia bitterly remembers to this day. Australia was on the cusp of writing World Cup history in becoming the first nation to win back to back campaigns.  As history reminds us, a Johnny Wilkinson drop goal sealed the final for England with a score of 20-17 at Telstra Stadium in Sydney.  One thing that Australia can take from that World Cup is their slaughtering of Namibia. The score line at fulltime was 142-0, the biggest winning margin in a World Cup game thus far.

The most recent World Cup in 2007 again saw Australia defeated in the quarter finals. Argentina racked up their highest finish in a World Cup, beating France 34-10 in the third place playoff.  England got their due from the last World Cup at the hands of South Africa, with a score of 15-6 at Stade de France.

In a little over 14 days the world will come together in this sporting event. Can South Africa win two World Cups in a row? Can Australia make it past the quarter finals, and win the Cup? Will New Zealand or England join Australia and South Africa in being the only nations to win two World Cups? Or will there be a fairy tale of an unknown nation claiming Rugby royalty?
