This Friday, the 28th of October, Australia will open their Four Nations campaign against current Four Nations champions New Zealand. England and Wales open their campaigns the day after as they try to notch up their first Four Nations title.
The Four Nations Rugby League Tournament, having run twice before, emerged from the Tri-Nations Rugby League Tournament. The first Four Nations was comprised of Australia, England, New Zealand and France. Australia took out the maiden Four Nations Title in an emphatic win over England in the final.
France was not to return for the following Four Nations, and was replaced by Pacific Cup winners Papua New Guinea. New Zealand took out that tournament after beating Australia at Suncorp Stadium in the final.
After Australia played New Zealand a few weeks ago it’s hard not to back the Kangaroos taking out the Tournament, especially given that Darren Lockyer, the most capped test player of any nation, hangs up his boots after this tournament.
